31 year old Formula one racer Nico Rosberg has shockingly announced his retirement from the mega rich sport just five days after winning his very first Formula one title.

Rosberg last Sunday, beat his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton by five points (through the 2016 season,) and despite signing a new contract with Mercedes last spring, announced on Friday night in a press conference at the FIA prize-giving ceremony in Vienna ,that he would be retiring from F1 with immediate effect.

"I have climbed my mountain, I am on the peak, so this feels right," in racing, it has been my dream, my 'one thing', to become Formula 1 world champion,".

The hard work, the pain, the sacrifices, this has been my target. And now I've made it." “When I won the race in Suzuka, from the moment when the destiny of the title was in my own hands, the big pressure started and I began to think about ending my racing career if I became World Champion,”

“On Sunday morning in Abu Dhabi, I knew that it could be my last race and that feeling cleared my head before the start. I wanted to enjoy every part of the experience, knowing it might be the last time… and then the lights went out and I had the most intense 55 laps of my life.

“I took my decision on Monday evening. After reflecting for a day, the first people I told were Vivian and Georg [Nolte, from Nico’s management team], followed by Toto [Wolff].

“The only thing that makes this decision in any way difficult for me is because I am putting my racing family into a tough situation. But Toto understood. He knew straight away that I was completely convinced and that reassured me.

“My proudest achievement in racing will always be to have won the world championship with this incredible team of people, the Silver Arrows. “Now, I’m just here to enjoy the moment. There is time to savour the next weeks, to reflect on the season and to enjoy every experience that comes my way. After that, I will turn the next corner in my life and see what it has in store for me…”

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, added: “This is a brave decision by Nico and testament to the strength of his character,” “He has chosen to leave at the pinnacle of his career, as World Champion, having achieved his childhood dream.

The clarity of his judgement meant I accepted his decision straight away when he told me. “It’s impossible to capture the essence of a person in a few short words. But Nico has a special combination of natural talent and fighting spirit that have brought him to where he is today.

“Throughout his career, people have thought he was on a golden path to success just because his father was a World Champion; in fact, I think in some ways that made the challenge greater – and meant he had to fight even harder with the weight of expectation on his shoulders.

“With Mercedes, Nico has been a relentless competitor, bouncing back from tough times in an inspirational way, and he earned the respect of the sport with his tenacity, his fighting spirit and his grace under pressure. “Since 2010, he has poured competitive energy into our team and we have grown stronger because of it.

We simply say ‘thank you’ for the incredible contribution he has made to our success, alongside two of the all-time great drivers, Michael and Lewis.

“For the team, this is an unexpected situation but also an exciting one. We are going into a new era of technical regulations and there is a free Mercedes cockpit for the seasons ahead. “We will take the necessary time to evaluate our options and then find the right path for our future.”

President Buhari’s Address at the Passing out parade of 63 Regular course of NDA

I am delighted to be in the Nigerian Defence Academy again this time to review the Passing Out Parade of Cadets of the 63 Regular Course.  Since I came here a year ago to review the Parade of 62 Regular Course, I am pleased to note that the Academy has made tremendous progress in terms of both physical infrastructure and quality of teaching and training.

President Muhammadu Buhari

I always look forward to coming here to perform this duty as it reminds me of my cadet days as well as the opportunity it gives me to appreciate the tremendous progress and achievements of the Nigerian Defence Academy and the Armed Forces since independence.

The excellent parade we have just witnessed is a testimony to the high standard of training and discipline the Academy has set.  I, therefore, commend the Commandant, instructors and gentlemen officer cadets for this outstanding parade.  Today’s Passing Out Parade has an added significance because, for the first time in 52 years, this Academy is graduating female cadets who will be commissioned as regular officers into the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

While congratulating these soon-to-be pioneer female Regular Combatant officers for their courage and resilience in the past 5 years, I advise the Services to put in place adequate institutional mechanisms to evaluate the deployment or otherwise of our female officers in active combat roles.  But we must be careful to carry public opinion with us and respect cultural sensitivities.

I am delighted to note the series of transformations that have taken place in this great institution within the past one year which includes:

·        The Indoor Gallery Shooting Range which is the best in the sub-region;

·        An enhanced obstacle course and

·        A standard armoury.

Additionally, recent improvements in physical and human resources have led to the accreditation of 5 academic programmes by the National Universities Commission.  I commend the Commandant and staff of the Academy for these outstanding achievements within the last one year.

This Administration will continue to support the Ministry of Defence especially in capacity building and improving the welfare of its personnel in the Armed Forces.  Only recently, the Federal Executive Council approved the treasury funding of the Defined Benefits (Non-Contributory Pension Scheme) for NDA civilian retirees.  The Academy will continue to be assisted in terms of budgetary provision to sustain the high standard of excellence already attained.

To the passing out cadets, I want to observe that you are graduating into the Armed Forces at a very auspicious time when the gains of several years of sacrifice by our troops are being consolidated.  You are indeed moving into a path of honour, sacrifice and responsibility.  You are also moving to the next level having been found worthy in learning and character to move from being Cadets to officers.

Therefore, as you step out of this noble institution, your character will determine how far you can go.  Endeavour to be patriotic and exhibit the highest level of discipline and loyalty to one Nigeria.  Above all you must strive to keep to the tenets of the profession by remaining apolitical.  You are also required to exhibit the highest sense of integrity, patriotism and exemplary service to the nation and its people.

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, you will all recall that this Administration inherited a badly managed Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.  The violence even spread beyond North Eastern states.  But the capacity of the insurgents to launch attacks has now been significantly curtailed.  Boko Haram’s capacity to hold territories has been obliterated.  What is on-going now are mop up operations to clear the remnants of the insurgents from their numerous hideouts.

All these successes are largely the efforts of our gallant troops of the Nigerian Military.  I

Perhaps for the first time, President Muhammadu Buhari and the immediate past Chairman of the INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega

Perhaps for the first time, President Muhammadu Buhari and the immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, will meet under one roof after the election midwife by Jega.

The point of convergence of the trio will be the annual Conference and Awards Ceremony of LEADERSHIP, scheduled to hold on Thursday October 6, 2016, at the Abuja Transcorp Hilton Hotel by 10am.

The three important men, whose actions have shaped the Nigerian political scene, according to a statement from the newspaper, have already confirmed their participation in the annual awards event.

Buhari, Jega and Jonatrhan
This year’s event is significant as it will bring together a serving and two former presidents, governors, legislators, members of the diplomatic corps and elder statesmen to discuss the theme: ‘Democracy, Political Transition and the Challenge of Leadership in Africa.’

The keynote address will be delivered by the Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel.
The Group Managing Director, Dr Cletus Akwaya, in a statement yesterday, disclosed that former head of state and elder statesman, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, will be chairman of the occasion and is scheduled to present the Persons of The Year awards to the winners.

The trio of President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, are LEADERSHIP’s Persons of the Year 2015.

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, will be the royal father of the day at the event, with Senate President, Bukola Saraki as guest of honour while the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello is co-host.

In a letter of confirmation signed by his chief of protocol, Sani Musa Daura, the minister said he would personally grace the event.

“Their selection followed a critical review of their various contributions to the growth and development of democracy in Nigeria and the peaceful and seamless manner in which the three eminent Nigerians handled the 2015 democratic transition without derailing the country’s democracy to the admiration and commendation of the global democratic community,” the statement pointed out.

It further stated that the LEADERSHIP Awards would be honouring President Buhari “for making history by being the first opposition candidate to defeat a sitting president after three attempts.”

In the case of former President Goodluck Jonathan, he would be recognised by the newspaper “for achieving the improbable and for conceding defeat in an election in which he was a contestant – a first for Nigeria.”

The former INEC boss is to be honoured “for his courage, doggedness and fairness even in the face of threats to his life in the conduct of the 2015 elections,” to global acclaim.
Explaining the criteria employed by the newspaper’s Board of Editors in arriving at the choice of the trio LEADERSHIP said: “It always seems improbable until it is done.

We may now take for granted the watershed of the 2015 presidential election but who could have thought it would come to pass? It was far from being so before it was done. When Nigeria held her presidential poll on March 28, 2015 – the fifth since civilian rule was restored in 1999 – it had all the elements of a do-or-die affair.

“Providence and three key personalities – Jonathan, Jega and Buhari, turned the tide. They jointly midwifed and protected the people’s mandate and the nation’s democracy from the pernicious machinations of contending interests.

In choosing the LEADERSHIP Person of the Year, the Board of Editors could not separate the three central characters who defined 2015. We celebrate these icons of democracy for their role in the nation’s proper initiation to true democracy.”

According to the statement, Abdulsalami was chosen to present the Persons of the Year awards because of his role before, during and after the 2

Explaining his actions, Rajhu said: "I told her I would have no face to show at the mill, to show to my neighbors, so don't do it. Don't do it. But she wouldn't listen.

I could not let it go. It was all I could think about. I had to kill her. There was no choice. There was no yelling, no shouting. I just shot her dead."

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES OPERATION FOREST STORM

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES OPERATION FOREST STORM AGAINST BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN SAMBISA FOREST, DESTROYS MORE ILLEGAL OIL REFINERIES AND BARGES IN NIGER DELTA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced another round of air interdiction missions codenamed ‘OPERATION FOREST STORM’ in the North East. This new phase of offensive air operations is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Sambisa general area with a view to restrict the freedom of action of the insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to movement of own ground forces in continuing with their rescue operations. The operation, which commenced about 3 days ago on 2 October 2016, is expected to last few days. During this period, the NAF would be conducting series of air interdictions to take out a number of carefully selected targets in the Sambisa Forest.

Meanwhile, the Air Component of OPERATION DELTA SAFE has continued to rid the creeks in the Niger Delta of illegal oil refineries and barges used for carrying stolen petroleum products. The NAF today, using the EC-135 helicopters, destroyed illegal refineries and barges along east of Isaa town, Borikiri, old Bakana as well as Bakana and Bille Communities. Armed patrol over the affected areas also showed other illegal human activities as people were seen digging bays to bury storage tanks, drums and jerry cans. While urging these criminal elements to seek legitimate means of livelihood, it is pertinent to state that the NAF will not relent in its spirited effort to stamp out these acts of economic sabotage and illicit activities in the region and other parts of the country.

President Buhari puts two jets up for sale

The federal government has put up for sale two private jets in President Muhammadu Buhari’s fleet.

Apparently, the sale is to generate foreign currency as Leadership reports that the office of the national security adviser, which is in charge of the sale, said all bids must be in US dollars.

This confirms a Tweet by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu in September that “There is a govt committee already in place, working to reduce the number of aircraft in the Presidential fleet.”

While the sale of the jets may be welcome development to many Nigerians that called for the reduction of the presidential fleet, prompting Shehu’s tweet, the move could also draw criticisms from Nigerians because it comes smack in the centre of a debate over the propriety of selling of national assets to restart the economy.

The debate has deeply divided Nigerians with some claiming the sale was necessary while others say there was no real rationale for such action even with the recession.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote and senate president Bukola Saraki were for the sale while the likes of senator Shehu Sani, lawyer Femi Falana, former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Charles Soludo and economist Oby Ezekwesili are against it.

See the Man who sleeps with minor in the bush, posts it on Facebook

A Kenyan man, Calvin Mbane Alfayo, recently took to his Facebook page to brag about how he slept with a 10-year-old girl in the bush.

He posted photos of the minor with him in the bush, lying down.  Alfayo shared photos of himself and the girl lying in a bush. He said that he had just defiled the girl and told his followers to take love instead of waiting to be loved.

In one of the photos, the man asks the girl to lift her top as he takes a photo of her. Social media users, angered by the sick show on Facebook, called for his immediate arrest. He has now been identified as the son of a local Member of the County Assembly (MCA). According to reports, he was once a former administration police officer but was fired over cases of indiscipline.

Tinubu made the demand on September 25 in a communiqué from his media office.

*Army to commission female combatant officers – Buratai*

Tukur BurataiChief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, said the Nigerian Army has concluded plans to review the Harmonized Terms And Conditions of Service (HTACOS), for officers to address the commission of female Regular Combatant officers in the service.Buratai said this has become necessary as the first batch of female regular combatant officers currently undergoing training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) would soon complete their training and be commissioned into the Nigerian Army. The army chief, who made this known while addressing officers at the just concluded chief of army staff combined second and third quarter conference, also said the army would review its training curricula especially in the area of deployment in view of operational exigencies to accommodate the female officers.
“The issue regarding their deployment in view ofoperational exigencies has necessitated a review of their training curricula as it concerns the Nigerian Army,” Buratai said.“I have therefore directed the convocation of policy guidelines to augment the provisions of HTACOS (officers) which will address the peculiar nature of their commission vis-a-vis their employment in service.”“It is thus the desire of the Nigerian Army to resume the admission of female regular combatant cadets in line with global convention on non-discrimination against women in nationalservice”.To ensure young Nigerian army officers are grounded in the rudiments of regimentation and meet contemporary security challenges, Buratai, said he has designated 20 Battalion, located in Serti, Taraba state, as a Model Battalion to “instill the rudiments of regimentation into young officers in the field as well as new graduates from the Nigerian Defence Academy.”

Tension!! The Real Reason Tinubu Shunned Buhari’s Independence Day Invitation - Presidency Blows Hot

The embattled National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has for the first time since 2015, shunned an event organised by President Muhammadu Buhari, to mark the 56th Independence Day Anniversary of Nigeria, at the Presidential Villa.
Sources within the Presidency confirmed to Post-Nigeria, that Tinubu decided to shun the event, to express his displeasure over Buhari’s continued silence, over the outcome of the APC Gubernatorial primary poll in Ondo State, where his political son, Segun Abraham, was defeated.
Reacting, a Lawyer and Political Analyst, Yemi Adetoyinbo, said it was clear that Tinubu was still angry that his godson, lost the election to the eventual winner, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).
“The election was seen to be transparent by the media, but there was inkling that there would be issues, when the party’s Chairmen in Ondo East and Ondo West Local Government Areas, Akintunde Samuel and Adeola Ademulegun, respectively, submitted a petition that their delegates had been replaced, but the election had to go on,” he said.
He added: “Tinubu had endorsed Abraham, but others had ganged up against his godson, to make sure that he was defeated, until the Presidency met with them in Abuja, and a list of delegates was given to them. But when the votes were cast eventually, Abraham had 635 votes, and Akeredolu led with 669 votes.
“Olusola Oke came third, and Prof. Ajayi Boroffice came fourth”.

We don't have enough money to pay workers

We Don’t Have Enough Money To Pay Bayelsa Workers” – Dickson Says

Mr. Seriake Dickson

Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has affirmed that the state government does not have the capacity to pay civil servants in the state because of dwindling revenue.

A statement from the state’s Ministry of Information and Orientation, quoted the governor as making this remark during a meeting with members of the Bayelsa Elders Forum in Yenagoa.

The governor enjoined the elders to prevail on the civil servants from their different localities to accept the ongoing payment pattern. The government had been paying workers in the state 50 per cent salaries since February 2016.

The statement quoted the governor as saying, “In the area of public service, I appeal to the elders to be part of the discussions by engaging civil servants from their localities to accept the ongoing payment pattern as government at this point cannot pay full salaries.

“Some of the major challenges our government is facing is dwindling revenue and security. We call for collaboration to ensure law and order in all the local government areas in the state.”

Also, Dickson paid glowing tribute to elders and founding fathers of the state who fought and persistently agitated for the creation of Bayelsa state in 1996. Noting that the state was not where it should be, he nevertheless said it was not where it used to be.

Secondary and primary schools teachers in Bayelsa State had threatened to embark on indefinite strike if the state government failed to pay its outstanding salaries.
